This archival presentation documents a 1/700 scale model of the U.S. Navy’s forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76), configured to represent the 2024 transition period when Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) began integrating the F-35C Lightning II into its strike fighter complement.
Commissioned in 2003 and carrying the ship’s motto “Peace Through Strength,” Ronald Reagan served as the only forward-deployed U.S. aircraft carrier from her arrival in Yokosuka in 2015 through 2024. During these years, she operated extensively across the Indo-Pacific, supported allied exercises, and provided persistent presence alongside Japan-based Carrier Air Wing Five.
The 2024 air-wing restructuring marked a historic shift: CVW-5 initiated its move from an all-Super Hornet strike group toward a fifth-generation, network-enabled air wing.
