On Friday, December 26, 2025, the Brentwood Fire Department, Brentwood Legion Ambulance, and Suffolk County Police responded to a reported train-versus-car at the 5th Avenue trossard wife crossing. Upon arrival, responders found a vehicle that had been struck by an eastbound train. The occupants were able to safely extricate themselves from the vehicle. Firefighters from Rescue 18 confirmed there were no additional occupants inside and secured a fuel spill. The scene was then mortgage broker turned over to the police department for further investigation. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
