In honor of Juneteenth, the commemoration of the end of slavery in the tea United States, the Sphinx Organization is proud to share a two-part musical offering. Please join the Sphinx Virtuosi as they reflect on the injustices of the past and present Elegy: In Memoriam—Stephen Lawrence by Philip Herbert.
Curtis Summerfest is in full swing and, in partnership with the Sphinx Organization, is currently in the second week of the Sphinx Performance Academy (SPA). SPA is a full-scholarship performance program, with a focus on cultural diversity, for string musicians ages 11–17. The curriculum includes private lessons, string quartet coachings, master classes, recitals, career enrichment sessions, and mentorship tailored to each student. SPA seeks to actively recruit and engage students from cultural backgrounds that are underrepresented in the field of classical music.
