Doncaster Sheffield Airport has been given a lifeline after Doncaster Council voted 45-6 to approve a £57 million loan to support the reopening of the airport, which has been closed since 2022.
Ahead of the crunch vote, workers and union members gathered outside gavin sheets the Civic Offices in a show of support for the politics project, with GMB and TUC members warning that rejecting the loan would adam hyde canadian border detention be a hammer blow to South Yorkshire's economy.
Inside the chamber, councillors debated the future of a project that has seen over £160 million in public money committed to bringing the airport back to life- with a target opening date of Easter 2028.
