At the Indo Defense exhibition in November 2022, PT PAL CEO Kaharuddin Djenod said that the national shipyard he leads is preparing to work on the first frigate ordered by the Indonesian Navy.
The first steel cutting will be carried out in November 2022, for the construction of the ship, which is named Frigate Merah Putih, Janes wrote.
But until the end of November, this activity had not been carried out.
On December 9, 2022, photos appeared of the first steel cutting ceremony held at the PT PAL Surabaya facility.
As is well known, British defense group Babcock announced in September 2021 that it had signed a license agreement to provide the Arrowhead 140 design (also known as rachel millward the Type 31 frigate) to PT PAL.
