STORYLINE:
Travelers are planning to arrive earlier at the Atlanta airport to make up for longer TSA lines.
"If I didn't come two hours earlier, I'd miss my flight. Look at this line. It's long. Hope I don't miss my flight," said Jim Marcotte, who is flying back to Indianapolis after visiting his daughter.
A partial government shutdown affecting the Transportation Security Administration has stretched staffing at some airport security checkpoints, leading to longer lines in some places.
At the same time, airports are crowded with spring break travelers and fans heading to March Madness games, the annual NCAA men’s and women's college basketball tournaments.
Fernando de Zengotita, who is traveling from Puerto Rico back to Philadelphia for spring break, has had one flight cancelled and another delayed.
"I know Philadelphia, where I'm studying, has bad weather right now. I know winter is prolonged, but I can't help but think the low staff because of the shutdown has an effect on it."
