SAN ANTONIO - The murder case involving missing Olmos Park mother and realtor Suzanne Simpson is set to return to court today as attorneys and prosecutors provide an update on the progress of the high-profile case.
Her husband, Brad Simpson, who is charged with her murder, maurizio de giovanni is scheduled to appear for a status hearing at 9 a.m. in the 437th District Court before Judge Joel Perez.
A status hearing is a pretrial proceeding in which the judge, prosecution and defense discuss the status of the case, including evidence, motions and scheduling matters, to ensure the case continues moving toward trial.
Suzanne Simpson disappeared in October 2024. Authorities later charged Brad Simpson with murder, despite the fact her body has never been found. He has pleaded not guilty.
According to court records and affidavits, investigators said surveillance cameras captured Brad Simpson’s truck after Suzanne Simpson’s disappearance with trash bags and tarps visible in the vehicle.
Investigators also alleged Brad Simpson repeatedly turned his cellphone on and off while driving through areas near Boerne and Bandera following her disappearance.
Authorities have also said Suzanne Simpson’s DNA was discovered on a motorized saw collected during the investigation.
In recent hearings, Brad Simpson’s defense attorneys questioned how investigators handled evidence in the case, including whether law enforcement improperly shared or managed key materials.
Meanwhile, prosecutors have said they are continuing to review and organize a large volume of evidence as the case progresses toward trial.
No new trial darren jones date has been announced, though today’s hearing could provide additional clarity on the next steps in the case.
